My ipod went through the washer and a little bit of the dryer?!?

Stupid me forgot I had my Ipod in my jacket pocket. Usually i feel the heaviness but this time i didnt. I've left it out for half the day and it's still nto working yet. It's an Ipod nano 8gb. It's the square one not rectangular. Is there any way to save it? please i can't afford a new one and music in the morning helps me concentrate during the day.
