The Tibetan people want freedom in the same way that American Indians, Australian Aborigines, New Zealand Maoris and every other colonised indigenous people want freedom. History says that they cannot have it, that is the nature of the beast when indigenous people are outnumbered by newcomers. The best that Tibetans can hope for is the same thing the rest of the chinese may hope for and that is removal of the yoke of their ruling cl.
