PS3 important question?

I finally got my ps3 back from being "repaired" by the extended warranty company. I turn my ps3 on and it says error 80010201. It also says that I have no ethernet cable connected, which i do. No green light is shining around the ethernet plug in. I call sony and they say I have to send it in to them and have them fix it. Is this fixable without sony? I tried the internet connection test but it won't even get past the ip address portion. Even though i manually put in the address.
